On Wednesday, March 6, Councillor Glen Gower hosted an open house for residents to learn more about the proposed mixed-use development at 1531 Stittsville Main Street, just south of Orville. About 50 people attended the event at CARDELREC – Goulbourn (formerly the GRC). The proposal from Ottawa-based Huntington Properties, with architectural design by Project1 Studio  includes a minor zoning change and a site plan control application.

The open house included a presentation from Alan Whitten of Huntington Properties, Brian Casagrande of FOTENN (Huntington’s planning consultant), and architect Ryan Koolwine. The presentation included updated design concepts for the development, and a Q&A presentation. Residents had questions about the design, construction, traffic, parking, and integration with the surrounding community. You can click here to download a copy of Huntington’s presentation, and a video of the Q&A session is posted below.

The next step in the process is a review of the proposal by the city’s Urban Design Review Panel on Friday, April 5 at 3:30pm City Hall. This meeting will be open to the public, and the resulting recommendations from the Panel will be posted on the City’s website. You can find more information about the Urban Design Review Panel process here…

If you have feedback or questions about the proposal, please send them to city planner Stream Shen at stream.shen@ottawa.ca or by phone at 613-580-2424 ext. 24488. Deadline for comments is March 14, 2019. You can also email glen.gower@ottawa.ca.
