I am so happy to see the launch of the Ottawa First Responders Foundation today at Village Square Park in Stittsville. The foundation’s goal is to establish stronger mental health support for Ottawa’s first responders and their families, through programs like peer support, informed clinical support, and education. Congrats to Brenda Tirrell and colleagues on a very successful launch event. Over $32,000 has already been raised towards this year’s goal of $100,000. The next big fundraiser is 9RunRun on October 19 in Stittsville, the event’s 10th year. -GG.

Thank you all for coming out to the launch of the Ottawa First Responders Foundation. The gathering at Village Square Park in Stittsville on this beautiful July day, helped us kick off what we hope will become the benchmark of first responder support.
Brenda Tirrell, the Founder and President of the Ottawa First Responders Foundation announced a goal of $100,000 to be raised by August, 2020. Much of this will come from the annual 9runrun event occurring in Stittsville on October 19th, 2019. The run is in its 10th year and is considered by many runners to be one of the best in the Ottawa area.
The Ottawa First Responders Foundation aims to augment the services and support provided to the Ottawa First Responder Family by collaborating to provide Peer Support, Informed Clinical Support and Education.
This charity will serve and honour all of our Ottawa First Responders and their families with meaningful resources to create lasting positive impact. All money raised or donated goes directly into programs to support the mental health initiatives, providing training, workshops and access to clinicians.

L’objectif de la fondation est de renforcer le réseau de soutien en santé mentale pour les premiers répondants d’Ottawa et leur famille en offrant des programmes de soutien par les pairs, de soutien clinique professionnel et d’éducation. Merci à tous ceux qui ont participé au lancement de l’Ottawa First Responders Foundation, au parc Village Square de Stittsville. Avec l’appui manifesté lors de cet événement tenu sous le beau soleil de juillet, nous espérons faire de l’organisme une référence en matière de soutien aux premiers répondants.
Brenda Tirrell, fondatrice et présidente de l’Ottawa First Responders Foundation, a fixé un objectif de 100 000 $ à amasser d’ici le mois d’août 2020. Une bonne partie de ce montant devrait être obtenue lors de la course annuelle 9RUNRUN, qui aura lieu le 19 octobre 2019 à Stittsville. Cette année marque la 10e édition de l’événement, que beaucoup de sportifs considèrent comme l’une des meilleures courses de la région.
L’Ottawa First Responders Foundation s’est donné pour mission d’accroître les services et le soutien offerts aux premiers répondants et à leurs proches, en leur proposant des programmescollaboratifs de soutien par les pairs, de soutien clinique professionnel et d’éducation.
L’organisme de bienfaisance offrira appui et reconnaissance à tous les premiers répondants d’Ottawa et à leur famille, en mettant à leur disposition des ressources concrètes qui auront une influence positive durable. Tout l’argent amassé ou reçu sera investi directement dans des programmes de santé mentale, des formations et des ateliers, et pour faciliter l’accès à des cliniciens.
