I’m really excited about the opportunity to chair the Transit Commission. I’ve taken transit for years and had my first bus pass when I was in Grade 7 at Sir Winston Churchill School in Nepean. I regularly use the bus and train to travel to City Hall from Stittsville. Yes, there are some big challenges ahead, along with a big opportunity to work with OC Transpo to better serve the evolving needs of transit riders our community. Ottawa has over a million people and we need a great transit system to serve our transportation and mobility needs. –Councillor Glen

Councillor King will serve as the Council Liaison for the City’s Anti-Racism and Ethnocultural Relations Initiatives, Councillor Troster as Council Liaison for Women, Gender Equity and 2SLGBTQ+ Affairs, Councillor Luloff as Council Liaison for Veteran and Military Issues, and Councillor Bradley as Council Liaison for the Anishinabe Algonquin Nation Civic Cultural Protocol and Implementation Plan.

Council approved the proposed 2023 Budget directions, timeline and consultation process. The report proposes an overall tax increase of between two and 2.5 per cent, made up of various levies. Public consultation will take place in December and January. The draft operating and capital budget will be tabled at a special meeting of City Council on Wednesday, February 1. Each standing committee will meet in February to consider their portions of Draft Budget 2023, and residents, businesses and community groups will be able to take part as public delegations. Council will consider and adopt the final budget on Wednesday, March 1.

Je suis très heureux d’avoir l’occasion de présider la Commission du transport en commun. Je prends le transport en commun depuis des années, ayant eu mon premier laissez-passer d’autobus comme étudiant de 7e année à la Sir Winston Churchill school de Nepean. Je prends régulièrement l’autobus et le train pour me rendre à l’hôtel de ville à partir de Stittsville. Je sais qu’il y aura d’importants défis à relever, mais j’aurai la chance inouïe de travailler avec OC Transpo dans le but d’améliorer les processus afin de pouvoir mieux répondre aux besoins changeants des usagers de notre communauté. Il y a plus d’un million d’habitants à Ottawa et la ville doit se doter d’un bon réseau de transport en commun pour répondre aux besoins en matière de transport et de mobilité. – Glen Gower, conseiller municipal

Le conseiller King sera l’agent de liaison du Conseil pour les initiatives de relations ethnoculturelles et de lutte contre le racisme de la Ville, la conseillère Troster sera l’agente de liaison du Conseil pour la condition féminine, l’équité des genres et les questions touchant la communauté 2SLGBTQ+, le conseiller Luloff sera l’agent de liaison du Conseil pour les questions relatives aux anciens combattants et d’ordre militaire, et le conseiller Bradley sera l’agent de liaison du Conseil pour le Protocole culturel civique relatif à la Nation Anishinabe Algonquine et le plan de mise en œuvre.

Le Conseil a approuvé le rapport Orientation, calendrier et processus de consultation proposés pour le budget de 2023. Ce rapport propose une hausse de l’impôt municipal à un pourcentage compris entre 2 % et 2,5 % sous forme de divers prélèvements. Une consultation publique aura lieu en décembre et janvier. Le budget préliminaire de fonctionnement et d’immobilisations sera déposé lors d’une réunion extraordinaire du Conseil municipal le mercredi 1er février. Chaque comité permanent se réunira en février pour examiner sa partie du budget préliminaire de 2023, et les résidents, les entreprises et les groupes communautaires pourront y participer en tant que délégations du public. Le Conseil examinera et adoptera la version définitive du budget le mercredi 1er mars.
