Forestry Services’ fall tree planting program is scheduled to begin on Tuesday, October 1st, and will run until mid-November, weather permitting. This includes tree planting in parks, at City facilities, and along streets through Forestry Services’ lifecycle tree planting programs and some Schoolyard Tree Planting Grant Program projects. Please note that the list of locations does not include trees planted by other City Services, through development projects, or by applicants as a condition of tree removal permits.
In this round of planting, 125 trees are being planted through Trees in Trust & Trees in Parks programs.
Public locations include:
- Alexander Grove Park – 22 trees
- Johnwoods Linear Park – 5 trees
- Ralph St. Park – 1 tree
- Sunray Park – 4 trees
- Village Square Park – 1 tree
Species to be planted through the Trees in Trust program include:
- Crabapple
- Colorado Spruce
- Red maple
- Sugar maple
- Serviceberry
- Bur Oak
- Honey locust
- Malus pink
- Callery pear
- Japanese lilac
- Nannyberry
- Various Other species could include Hackberry, Katsura, Northern Red Oak, and Oakleaf mountain ash.
Where a tree planting is scheduled on City property adjacent to a residence, individual notifications will be provided to the resident before planting. Residents should also expect to see utility locate flags and paint on the ground before planting.
