LRT / Rideau Transit Group – Notice of Default
City Council is continuing to take action against Rideau Transit Group to get the LRT system back up and running, and to ensure safety and reliability for transit riders. Unfortunately I’m limited to what I can share due to ongoing contract and legal action, but I have posted some preliminary info on my web site. I’ll share more with residents when I can.
Notice of default
The City of Ottawa issued another Notice of Default to Rideau Transit Group (RTG) on September 24 as a result of the two derailments that occurred on August 8 and September 19, 2021. The City is also considering all its legal options and options were discussed at an in-camera session at Finance and Economic Development Committee yesterday. The Notice of Default represents strong contractual action by the City in response to RTG’s failure to provide reliable service to the residents of Ottawa. It is also a step that is required in order to allow the City to use even stronger actions with RTG under the Project Agreement.
