During the month of February I’m attempting to commute by bus every day to work. It’s a commitment I made during the election campaign to commute by bus for an entire month. I’ve been writing about my experience on Twitter @glengower and posting a daily video blog. Throughout the month, I’ll capture some of the best-of moments in this post.
I wrote about #Stittsville bus service today, and why I'm taking the bus more often in February:https://t.co/TBR35Zc0XV pic.twitter.com/g7rh0BfmV6

Hopped on the #61C at Hazeldean and Huntmar, on time, en route to City Hall. Should take about an hour to get there.
Sidewalks along Huntmar were plowed (thankfully), and bus stops along the route were at least partially plowed.

And as busy as my schedule gets it doesn’t compare with people who work shift work and travel off-peak, low-income residents working more than one job, mom’s with strollers getting kids to daycare, doctor’s appts, groceries etc.

8.14am. My daughter just hopped on the bus for school. Now I'll march as fast as I can to Hazeldean Road to get the 61c. Goal is to make it to City Hall by 10 a.m. for City Council. #otttransitchallenge pic.twitter.com/g7eEV098g9

Actual footage of the first bus that I missed, driving away in the distance. Not sure if you can hear but a friendly driver saw me running and honked at the bus to stop. No luck. #otttransitchallenge pic.twitter.com/kVRZ1kwRBk

We had to abandon ship on Huntmar. The bus had a coolant leak. No danger to passengers but the ride was over. Lucky it was close to home. #OttTransitChallenge pic.twitter.com/fEEMptujBS

At Mackenzie King waiting for a bus back to Stittsville. The first bus in line in front of the Rideau Centre is having issues with a broken ramp.
