Today at City Council I brought forward a notice of motion to install year-round on-street parking restrictions on Brae Crescent between Stittsville Main Street and Norway Spruce Street.
Earlier this year, we received approval to install one-sided winter parking restrictions along this section of Brae Crescent and I see this as an opportunity to implement year-round parking restrictions while we’re at it. This motion, if approved, would restrict parking at all times on the south side of Brae as shown on the map below.

This will help to minimize the ongoing parking and access issues that my office continues to hear about from residents. It will need City Council approval because City policy would not normally let us restrict parking at this location year-round.

City Council will vote on the motion on September 24, 2025.
Here is the text of the motion:
WHEREAS residents have regularly expressed safety concerns with parking and sightline issues at Brae Crescent and Stittsville Main Street.
WHEREAS Brae Crescent is a narrow street with no sidewalks and a small shoulder that leads into a busy business zone.
WHEREAS ongoing and future construction at properties located on Brae Crescent between Stittsville Main Street and Norway Spruce Street has increased the number of vehicles parking on Brae Crescent.
WHEREAS the upcoming installation of seasonal parking restrictions provides an opportunity to install year-round signage now.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT City Council approve the installation of year-round on-street parking restrictions on the south side of Brae Crescent between Stittsville Main Street and Norway Spruce Street. For added clarity, this would apply only to the northern portion of Brae Crescent in Stittsville.
CARNET DE NOTES : Motion visant à interdire le stationnement sur le croissant Brae
Aujourd’hui, au Conseil municipal, j’ai présenté un avis de motion pour instaurer une interdiction permanente de stationner sur le croissant Brae, entre la rue Stittsville Main et la rue Norway Spruce.
Plus tôt cette année, comme nous avons été autorisés à instaurer une interdiction de stationner d’un seul côté de la rue pendant l’hiver, le long de cette partie du croissant Brae, selon moi, cette autorisation constitue une occasion d’instaurer une interdiction permanente de stationner, au passage. Cette motion, si elle est approuvée, interdirait le stationnement en tout temps du côté sud du croissant Brae, comme il est indiqué sur la carte ci-après.

Cela aidera à atténuer les problèmes persistants liés au stationnement et à l’accès que les résidents ne cessent de signaler à mon bureau. Comme les politiques de la Ville ne nous permettent habituellement pas d’instaurer des interdictions permanentes de stationner à cet endroit, nous devrons obtenir l’autorisation du Conseil municipal.

ATTENDU QUE les résidents soulèvent périodiquement des préoccupations concernant la sécurité liée au stationnement et les problèmes de visibilité sur le croissant Brae Crescent et la rue Stittsville Main.
ATTENDU QUE le croissant Brae est une rue étroite sans trottoirs, avec un petit accotement, menant à une zone commerciale animée.
ATTENDU QUE les travaux de construction en cours et à venir sur les propriétés situées sur le croissant Brae, entre la rue Stittsville Main et la rue Norway Spruce, ont entraîné une augmentation du nombre de véhicules stationnés sur le croissant Brae.
ATTENDU QUE l’instauration prochaine d’une interdiction saisonnière de stationner offre dès maintenant l’occasion d’installer des panneaux d’interdiction permanente de stationner.
PAR CONSÉQUENT, IL EST RÉSOLU QUE le Conseil municipal approuve l’instauration d’une interdiction permanente de stationner du côté sud du croissant Brae, entre la rue Stittsville Main et la rue Norway Spruce. Pour plus de clarté, l’interdiction ne s’appliquerait qu’à la partie nord du croissant Brae, à Stittsville.
