The number of schools in Stittsville could double in future years, depending on population growth and provincial funding.
The map below shows twelve sites that have been reserved for future schools. There are twelve sites in Stittsville, but construction is underway at only two of those sites.
Construction for new schools depends on when each school board decides to build them, and requires funding from the provincial government.
*On June 7, 2024, the Ontario government announced funding for two new Catholic schools in Stittsville: A high school at Cope & Atlas (C-7), and an elementary school at Cranesbill & Triangle (C-9). We still don’t have a timeline for when the school will be ready to open.
In new neighbourhoods, land is put aside for future schools and is typically “dual-zoned” for either institutional or residential use. The school board has a seven-year option from the date the subdivision is registered to use the site for a school. At the end of the 7-year window, there is an option to extend the option period. If school boards decide not to proceed with a school, the developer can proceed with development of homes instead.

Le nombre d’écoles à Stittsville pourrait doubler au cours des prochaines années, selon la croissance démographique et le financement provincial.
La carte qui suit montre douze terrains réservés pour de nouvelles écoles. Il y a douze terrains à Stittsville, mais des travaux de construction sont en cours sur seulement deux de ceux-ci.
La construction de nouvelles écoles dépend des décisions de chaque conseil scolaire et nécessite le financement du gouvernement provincial.
Le 7 juin 2024, le gouvernement de l’Ontario a annoncé le financement de deux nouvelles écoles catholiques à Stittsville : une école secondaire à la hauteur de la promenade Cope et de la terrasse Atlas (C-7) et une école primaire à la hauteur du chemin Cranesbill et de la rue Triangle (C-9). Aucune date n’a été fournie quant à l’ouverture de ces deux établissements scolaires.
Dans les nouveaux quartiers, des terrains sont réservés pour de nouvelles écoles, et le zonage est habituellement double (utilisation institutionnelle ou résidentielle). Le conseil scolaire dispose d’une option de sept ans, à compter de la date de l’enregistrement du lotissement, afin d’utiliser le terrain pour une école. À la fin de la période de sept ans, il peut se prévaloir d’une option de prolongation. Si le conseil scolaire décide de ne pas y construire d’école, le promoteur peut y bâtir des résidences.
