Good morning! For Victoria Day I’m in front one of Stittsville’s Victorian-era buildings. Kemp’s Tavern – now home to Cabotto’s – was built in 1868. It survived the Great Fire of 1870 and has had many uses over the years including a traveller’s inn/hotel along Hazeldean Road; a farmhouse, an Anglican retreat, a Catholic retreat, and then several restaurants: Café Luigi’s, Chequers, and now Cabotto’s.

This week’s updates:

  • Victoria Day schedule changes
  • Victoria Day fireworks at Hazeldean Gardens on Monday
  • Emergency preparedness workshop June 12
  • Make the right call:
3-1-1 for damage to park equipment or city facilities, or to report vandalism
    ottawapolice.ca/report for mischief, hate-motivated incidents
9-1-1 for crimes in progress, life-threatening emergencies, fire
  • Parks maintenance update
  • Tips for boulevard gardens
  • Wetlands at risk
  • Welcome to Stittsville multicultural festival on June 7: call for volunteers
  • Cleaning the Capital in Fringewood on Friday
  • Congrats to the Amberwood Village Residents Association
  • Borehole drilling along Carp Road
  • Road safety reminders: speed; impaired driving; distracted driving

Have an excellent long weekend!
