Volunteer awards celebrate Stittsville’s leaders

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for this year’s Stittsville Volunteer Awards. What a talented and dedicated roster of nominees and winners.

Last night’s ceremony was held online due to the pandemic.  We recognized nominees and award recipients in six categories, as chosen by the Selection Committee made up of community volunteers.

Margaret Griffiths, grand-daughter of the late Roger Griffiths, joined us from Florida to help present the Roger Griffiths Memorial Citizen of the Year Award. Mayor Jim Watson was on hand as well to deliver opening remarks and announce the award winners.  We were also joined by many previous award recipients who have been recognized since the award’s inception in the 1990s.

To the nominees and award recipients – you should be very proud about what you’ve accomplished. I am proud to continue this yearly tradition so that we can continue to thank these leaders for their outstanding contributions to life in our community. Thanks to all of you for getting involved!

Les Prix de reconnaissance des bénévoles rendent hommage aux leaders de Stittsville

Merci beaucoup à tous ceux qui se sont joints à nous à l’occasion de la remise des Prix de reconnaissance des bénévoles de Stittsville de cette année. Quelle liste de candidats et de gagnants talentueux et dévoués que nous avons!

La cérémonie d’hier soir s’est déroulée en ligne en raison de la pandémie.  Nous avons rendu hommage aux candidats et aux lauréats dans six catégories, telles que choisies par le comité de sélection composé de bénévoles issus de la communauté.

Margaret Griffiths, petite-fille de feu Roger Griffiths, s’est jointe à nous depuis la Floride pour participer à la remise du Prix commémoratif Roger-Griffiths pour le résident de l’année. Le maire Jim Watson était également présent pour prononcer le discours d’ouverture et annoncer les lauréats des prix.  Se sont également également joints à nous de nombreux anciens lauréats qui ont été récompensés par le passé, depuis la création des prix dans les années 1990.

Aux candidats et aux lauréats, vous pouvez être très fiers de ce que vous avez accompli. Je suis fier de perpétuer cette tradition annuelle afin que nous puissions continuer à remercier ces leaders de leurs contributions exceptionnelles à la vie de notre communauté. Merci à vous tous de votre participation!
