Today, the Transit Commission recognized Special Constable Sarah Kennedy with an Individual Excellence Award for Heroism for her role responding to a house fire in August 2018.
While driving to work at 5:30am, Kennedy, a Stittsville resident and Special Constable with OC Transpo, observed smoke coming from a home and stopped to investigate. Suspecting a fire, she quickly alerted the family, ensured emergency services were contacted and assisted in safely evacuating the occupants from the home. As a result of her actions, the family was able to safely escape, and the fire was promptly extinguished by Ottawa Fire Services.
The Award for Heroism is presented to employees who take decisive actions to benefit others under extraordinary circumstances. Congratulations Sarah, and thank you for your attention and quick thinking to help our community.
Aujourd’hui, la Commission du transport en commun a remis à l’agente spéciale Sarah Kennedy un prix individuel d’excellence pour héroïsme pour son intervention dans un incendie survenu dans une maison le 28 août 2018.
Alors qu’elle se rendait au travail en voiture à 5 h 30, Mme Kennedy, résidente de Stittsville et agente spéciale à OC Transpo, a vu de la fumée qui s’échappait d’une maison. Elle s’est immédiatement arrêtée pour voir ce qui se passait. Soupçonnant un incendie, elle a rapidement alerté la famille, s’est assurée que les services d’incendie avaient été avertis et a aidé à l’évacuation des occupants du domicile. En conséquence de la rapidité de son intervention, la famille a pu sortir en toute sécurité et l’incendie a été rapidement maîtrisé par leService des incendies d’Ottawa.
Le Prix pour héroïsme est remis aux employés qui interviennent énergiquement pour porter secours à autrui dans des circonstances exceptionnelles. Félicitations, Sarah Kennedy, et merci pour votre vivacité d’esprit et votre volonté d’aider la communauté.
